Started using Pownce today…

…and liked what I saw. It’s a “stuff-sharing” tool (started by Kevin Rose, I believe) that is great for collaboration with small groups.

It meets what I think should be 3 criteria for effective web-based consumer services:

1) easy to use – minimal clutter, easy registration, took me 3 minutes before i shared my first link/document

2) strong feature set – effectively combines social networking features (friend lists, customized groups) with array of sharing options (links, documents, simple comments)

3) merges well with other services – allows you to import friends from social networks, email contacts, etc…this characteristic is even more important these days given the proliferation of consumer services. I don’t even want to begin listing how many different sites I’ve registered with. If I lost my list of passwords, I would cry right then and there.
